Parrotdise 2004 update!
Wild Parrots of
Telegraph Hill
(book, songs and iTunes!)

Mark Bittner's book available for purchase at LIPS meetings!

Mark Bittner and the Conures

After she read The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, Ms. Fabiano was inspired to write and produce a song about the feral flock of conures author Mark Bittner befriended in San Francisco.  She produced and orchestrated the song, "Dogen, Connor and Tupelo," at her digital music studio.

Roberta sent Bittner a CD and he was delighted with the song. The two met when he visited Long Island, and they performed the song together at a meeting of the Long Island Parrot Society. Bittner and Judy Irving have produced a music video of "Dogen Connor and Tupelo" which featured film by LIPS member Terri Pakula and is included in the  DVD/video version of The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.

Fabiano was privileged to meet some of the real wild parrots on a recent visit to San Francisco. “It was a life changing experience,” says Roberta. “Seeing them flying wild like that was the essence of what I was trying to capture in the song.”

You'll be able to purchase the book "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" by Mark Bittner and a CD of Dogen, Connor and Tupelo at the event, with the proceeds going to the Long Island Parrot Society's educational and foster bird funds. The CD of Dogen, Connor and Tupelo is

Song Inspired by Wild Parrots Debuts at #1

CD Available Now!

After she read The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, musician and Long Island Parrot Society member, Roberta Fabiano (left) was inspired to write a song about the flock of feral conures Mark Bittner befriended in San Francisco.
Dogen, Connor and Tupelo debuted on CD at the LIPS fund-raiser associated with the movie, and it’s already #1 among parrot parents!  “I keep playing it over and over.”  “I cry every time I hear it.” “I can’t get it out of my head,” are typical comments from listeners, including Mark Bittner himself.
