Cinnamon Pearl Cockatiel, Yellow Crest / Tail, Black on Edges of Wings, Pearls are Grey, White, Yellow. Pearls on chest are fading to Grey, and he was starting to talk, Believed Male for these reasons.  WindInHisHair is one Year old, fully flighted, and unused to confinement.

Details On Escape: Wind escaped on 02/02/2008 when I tried to catch a cab that was passing my home so I was not late to work.  As I ran out the door ,so did Wind, and because my storm door snaps shut ,he had to go up instead of to my shoulder, and I heard him get lost in minutes while calling me. He was sighted on 02/06/2008 near our home as me and my oldest son searched and called for him on another side of the Sterling Estates Mobile Home Park where we live, it is near Utica/VanDyke/19 Mile roads.

We did not find this out until three days later when talking to a neighbor who lives behind us,she did not know he is loved and missing...

February 6, 2008 - Moustached Parrot

Bandit was startled and flew from my son a little more than a year ago. On November 23, 2006. I didn't know about this site but in the hopes that he was found and is okay. I wanted to post this. We put flyers up within an hour everywhere with a photo of Bandit but never received a response. I have photos of him everywhere in case anyone did find him and gave him a new home. We spotted him later in the day in a very tall tree and he answered when I called him but when he tried to come down the tree the branch sprung back and he flew away. That was the last time I saw him. I just hope if someone has him he is loved and taken care of. He used to talk and laugh and copy the phone ringing. It took us
all along time to recover from our loss. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

May 31, 2007 - PARROT SEEN
A parrot comes to a small tree in front of 30-22 34th street in Astoria queens almost every night after midnight and sometimes for hours, mimics other birds, car alarms and other sounds. i have not been able to see him, and sometimes people chase him away as windows are open and people are trying to sleep.

he may be coming to this tiny tree versus one of the bigger ones because i have an African grey that is by that window all day.

I will try to leave food out for him, but im hoping someone will recognize the various sounds he makes.

thanks

April 2007 - Green Parrot:
Last week, a green parrot showed up in my neighborhood and seems to have taken a liking to my backyard in Patchogue. I think it might be an Amazon of some type. I have been watching the lost and found ads in the local paper and I've not seen that anyone has reported a parrot lost.

January 5, 2007 - Eclectus Parrot (MALE/Green)
There is a green parrot (maybe an Eclectus) that has been seen for at least a few weeks in Miller Place near the water. It is always seen in the same tree, eating seed pods. A local resident, trying to rescue it, is attempting to entice it with food, but is not sure what to do. I will give him the sheet of information from the link on your site.

If anyone is missing this bird, contact me and I will put you in contact with the person.

We hope this helps by providing a place to list lost birds.  Whatever you do, don't give up without a fight.  Make sure you put up posters, contact local vets, pet stores and clubs.  Check the newspaper.  Many papers will list lost pet ads for free.  Please try to prevent this page from getting any larger by clipping your parrots wings, and being careful around open doors and windows.

Sincerely,

Long Island Parrot Society

Oscar

My Timneh Grey parrot flew out on the night of December 16th in the Union Square area via south bound.

He is 13 months old and is currently molting, wings clipped with flight feathers coming in, charcoal grey with maroon colored tail. He or she is not banded.

Paco responds well to a very energetic wolf whistle. Greys that fly away can fly hundreds of miles so it is not unlikely to be far from Manhattan. Please respond with any information regarding lil' Paco.

Cockatiel (PENNSYLVANIA):

Beloved female cinnamon Cockatiel "Zeke"- hand raised and 6 years old. She flew out the front door of our home after being "spooked" by a sudden noise on 10/26/06 at the corner of Zeigler Mill Road and Beechers Town Road in Biglerville, Pennsylvania.

She flew to the very top of trees across the street backing up to wooded area - she would cry out to me but would not fly down - last seen (and answered to my calls) on the morning of 10/29/06.

She chirps to the wolf whistle, the Lysol commercial song and the Andy Griffith theme song and knows her name. She is tame and may fly to you.

Please call 717-677-8748 if spotted. Reward if returned. pweber@worldpath.net

October 22, 2006 Umbrella Cockatoo: (STOLEN)

Susan Hecker pixieteacher@hotmail.com
October 22, 2006 an Umbrella Cockatoo was stolen from Petland on Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island. He's in full feather and is a very sweet and good-natured fellow. He was born in June 2005. The band number is FX1386.

Tips leading to his whereabouts would be great. If the person who stole him is afraid to come forward (grand larceny report was filed), I'd be more than happy to anonymously pick up the bird and return it to the manager (a friend of mine). I can be contacted at this e-mail.

Thank you for any help that you could give me and the heartbroken staff at Petland.
